Why Spotify in a presentation is the wrong tool
Spotify, YouTube Music, and similar services are licensed for private listening. When you put that sound under a client meeting, a webinar, or a recording you share internally, the use is different. “Everyone does it” does not make it allowed.
A stock library with a monthly fee solves some of it, but you pay for access you might use three times a year. A one-time purchase at the price on the track, VAT included, gives you the file and a licence certificate with an ID. You can show the certificate if someone asks. You cannot do that with a screenshot of a playlist.
The use page music for a presentation shows the tracks marked for speech. This article is about how you actually put them in.
How to do it in PowerPoint, Keynote, and Teams
PowerPoint: insert the sound on the first slide, tick that it should play in the background across all slides, and turn the volume down before you export. Do not put one clip per slide. Then the music jumps every time you click.
Keynote: use audio on the document, not on one slide. Then the track follows you through the whole walkthrough, including when you jump backwards.
Teams and Zoom: share system audio, not only the screen. Test with a colleague before the meeting. A track that can loop is safer than one that builds to a climax in minute four.
- Choose a track that is longer than the speaking time, plus one minute of air at the end.
- Start the music when you start talking, not as an intro the room has to wait out.
- Keep 15–20 percent volume. The music should be noticed when it disappears, not while it plays.
- Export with audio if you send the file. A .pptx without embedded audio is silent for the recipient.
Why the one-time purchase is worth it here
You pay once. The licence does not expire. You get WAV and MP3, and a certificate with a unique ID. A school, an agency, and a company pay the same price. There is no “pro” switch.
What you do not get, and should not have, is a track you can post as your own music. You use it in what you make. That is in the licence.
Questions
Can I use Audioklang in a work presentation and a recording of it?
Yes. The licence covers presentations, internal training, and company events, including a recording you share internally or with the client.
Do I have to credit the music on the last slide?
Credit is recommended where it is natural, for example “Music: Audioklang”. It is not a requirement. The licence certificate is the documentation.
What does it cost?
The price is on each track and includes VAT. You pay once, and the licence lasts.
What if the track ends in the middle of the talk?
Choose a track that is longer than the speaking time, or loop a bed without a clear ending. Do not fade in a new track while you are talking.
