Music for a YouTube video
You put the track under the film and get a licence certificate. We do not put the tracks into Content ID. You do not own the recording. The price is on the track.
What Content ID actually does
Content ID is YouTube’s system for recognising recordings. When a company has uploaded a fingerprint, your video can get a claim, lose revenue, or be muted, even when you “only used 20 seconds”.
We do not promise that YouTube never flags something. We do not put the track into Content ID, and you should not get a claim from us. You buy a right to use the file. That is on the use page for video and in the licence.
How to use the track in a YouTube film
- Buy the track. Download WAV for the timeline, MP3 as a spare.
- Put the music under the picture, not as a separately uploaded track on the channel.
- Do not upload the whole track on its own as if it were your track.
- Save the licence ID (LI-…) with the project. Paste it into internal documentation, not necessarily into the description.
- Ad revenue on the video is fine. Releasing the track as music is not.
If you need a bed more than cuts, see music for film. If you need cues with a start and an end, see programme.
What the purchase gives you that a free YouTube sound does not
YouTube Audio Library is fine for a hobby. For client work you want a certificate, a file at full resolution, and an agreement that does not disappear when Google tidies the catalogue.
The price on the track is one evening of clearance. You get WAV, MP3, and a licence certificate. No credits to keep track of. No “you must be a subscriber in the month the video is up”.
Questions
Can I earn money on a YouTube video with Audioklang music?
Yes. Social media, YouTube, and podcasts, with or without ad revenue, are in the licence.
Can I register the track in Content ID myself, so nobody else uses it?
No. You do not own the recording and cannot claim it as your own, including by registering it in Content ID or with TONO or Gramo.
What do I do if YouTube still flags the video?
Reply with the licence certificate and the ID. Tell mail@audioklang.com. We have not uploaded a fingerprint against you, but wrong matches happen in systems like that.
Can I put the whole track in a community post or as a Short on its own?
No. The track has to go into a production. Uploading the file on its own as if it were your track is outside the licence.
